A transplant from the deep south, Chris now calls Las Vegas home. Chris was born and raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He completed his undergraduate studies in the mountains of northwest Georgia at Dalton State College in Dalton, Georgia where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology. Chris earned his law degree, cum laude, from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia.
While in law school, Chris focused his coursework on criminal law and procedure, litigation, and appellate practice. In addition to graduating with honors, Chris was recognized for earning the highest grade in criminal practice and procedure, pretrial advocacy, and advanced legal research. Chris’ top score in advanced legal research also allowed him to work as a teaching assistant where he taught legal research to first year law students.
While in law school, Chris accepted a position with the Houston County Public Defender’s Office in Warner Robins, Georgia. Admitted to practice law under Georgia’s law student practice act, Chris spent his second and third years of law school representing indigent clients at all stages of criminal prosecution including arraignments, preliminary hearings, pleas, probation violations, motions, bench trials, and jury trials. Chris has extensive experience in criminal law and has worked with a wide variety of criminal charges including traffic violations and license offenses, theft, DUI, aggravated assault, drug possession, battery, child cruelty, and even murder. While working as a public defender, Chris served as lead trial counsel for multiple jury trials resulting in complete acquittals for his clients.
Chris Was Awarded The Judge Walker P. Johnson, Jr. Award
Upon graduating from law school, Chris was recognized for his trial work during law school and was awarded the Judge Walker P. Johnson, Jr. Award for demonstrated excellence in litigation, professionalism, and ethics.
After finishing law school, Chris relocated to Las Vegas after accepting a position with a litigation firm in Henderson, Nevada. As a law clerk, Chris worked on special investigative and insurance defense cases.
Eager to return to a practice dedicated to aggressive and effective criminal defense, Chris joined The Wright Law Group, P.C., as a law clerk, and upon passing the bar exam on his first attempt, Chris was promoted to associate attorney; he now leads the firm’s criminal defense practice while also assisting with many other aspects of the firm’s civil and commercial litigation matters.
Criminal Defense And Civil Litigation
In addition to his criminal defense practice, Chris also maintains a full time civil litigation practice where he represents individuals and companies in a wide variety of civil disputes including business and contract disputes, HOA foreclosure matters, construction litigation matters, mechanics liens, license disputes before the Nevada State Contractor’s Board, civil asset forfeiture cases before the United States Customs and Border Patrol administrative officers, and family law including divorce and child custody modifications.
Chris is a member of the Howard D. McKibben American Inn of Court; and he is also a senior attorney for the Clark County Law Foundation’s Trial by Peers juvenile diversion program. Chris is also a frequent volunteer judge for mock trial and moot court competitions for high school, college, and law students who compete in competitions across the Las Vegas valley.
In his free time, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife, Amy, digital photography, and traveling. Chris is also an award-winning lighting and sound technician and enjoys working with local community theaters to produce all types of performing arts including comedies, dramas, musicals, and concerts.
